Sustainable Arctic Community Planning in Tulita, NWT

A team of made up of foresters, water and energy engineers, DPI Territorial and affiliates of UBC CALP produced a vision for district energy system using local biomass and solid waste for the sub-arctic community of Tulita in the Northwest Territories of northern Canada. The aim was to design a renewable, low-carbon heat / electricity system as one part of an overall strategy for a more vibrant, livable and prosperous community.
